The SAFTAS team is predominantly comprised of four separate companies supported by a number of specialized subcontractors and consultants. They are all melded together to appear as a single entity to the client. The SAFTAS effort has garnered a reputation across the Headquarters Air Force structure as a "model" of efficient and effective staff contract support.

Senior managers from JACOBS Engineering, NCI, and CACI work together with the Alion Science and Technology's Program Manager to provide a "single face to the customer" operation. This management team develops and executes all A-Team policies and procedures. This collaboration includes a single timesheet system, single travel system, security clearance operation, and most importantly a single performance assessment and merit pay system.
